Recruitment and Outreach Specialist

Responsibilities:  Under supervision of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, establishes and administers programs for targeting recruitment of students in programs.  Serves independently in the service region for management and accountability.  Visit schools and makes presentations to groups and individuals.  Coordinates recruitment efforts and serves as primary point of contact for the service region and internal coordination of participation in outreach activities.  Serve as the primary recruiter for the College.  Plan, support, and implement a student recruitment program designed to meet enrollment goals and improve strategies.  Provide enrollment information services to internal and external students about admissions.  Visit middle schools, high schools, vocational schools, employers, area agencies and outreach services for the purposes of admissions recruitment.  Serve as liaison between the service region high schools and technical centers by developing a visitation/office schedule to be available to promote Southern to potential students.  Coordinate on campus recruitment visits in conjunction with Student Services personnel including high school students, middle school students, parents, and targeted groups as determined each semester.  Maintain established successful relationship with feeder high schools including recruitment of students, with a thorough understanding of high school document requirements.  Coordinate high school recruitment activities with all high schools within Southern's service region. 

Provide and administer all correspondence, follow-up, registration and logistics for all high school college fairs, high schools, and outreach visits both in state and within the College's regional area.  Build relationships with high school officials, community groups, veteran assistance groups, in conjunction with the Student Services Specialists and Campus Deans in order to recruit students.  Provide and administer early entrance registration and recruitment for all local high schools in the College's service district, including Belfry and Sheldon Clark high schools in Pike and Martin counties in Kentucky.  Assist with the recruitment of continuing education and distance education students including any new College programs involving continuing education and distance education courses and programs.  Coordinate visits and recruitment with the College's Workforce and Community Development Office.  Identify target populations and develop marketing strategies.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Education or related field with a minimum of 2 years experience working with students in a student recruitment, counseling, or related field is required; or a Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Education or related field with a minimum of 1 year experience working with students in a student recruitment, counseling or related field. Candidates with an Associate's degree with 5 plus years experience in counseling, customer relations, community relations, or related field will be considered.   Public speaking experience required.  Successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license.    Target date to fill position is July 31, 2019.  Position will remain open until filled.
